Are you going on holidays or going out of town for an extented period of time for work? Do you own Firarms and are afraid to leave them at home when you are out of Town? Stolen firearms may fall in the hands of criminals. Secure your firearms when you are away from home and store them in a safe location. CTVSP offers you that safe storage location for a small fee.

CTVSP offers storage facilities for any member or non members who wish to store their firearms at our range. This limited period of storage must conform to all regulations set by CTVSP which may change at any time without notice. The Storage fees for the storage are reviewed annually and will only be guaranteed for the agreed storage period. CTVSP is under no obligation to guarantee the storage price for more than the agreed storage period. Any renewal of a storage period may be subject to increases.

Rules governing storage of Firearms.

  • All firearms must be legally obtained and a registration certificate must be presented at the time of storage.
  • A transport permit must be obtained by the Surete de Quebec to transport the Firearms to be stored at the range.
  • If the owner of the firearms do not have a transport permit they may ask CTVSP to pick up the firearms to be stored at a cost of $150.00 if the firearms are within a reasonable distance from the range.
  • The person storing the firearms must have a firearm license or must be in the process of obtaining a PAC certificate.
  • The owner of the firearms will be responsible for the upkeep of the firearms at least twice a year or may mandate the Club to clean and maintain the same firearms twice a year at a fee of $25.00 per pistol or revolver and $45.00 for long arms like rifles and shotguns. This cost is per cleaning and is above and beyond the storage fees.
  • Any firearm bought at CTVSP which are in the process of being registered a tolerance of 12 months will be granted to the new owner of the firearm to register the firearms. It will be the responsibility of the new owner to assure that registration is completed within the 12 months grace period. Any prolonged storage period over the 12 months from the date of purchase will result in storage fees at a rate of $100.00 per firearm per year. The maintenance of these firearms will be done by CTVSP after 6 months of storage and every 6 months thereafter. The cost for this maintenance will be $25.00 per firearm for pistols and revolvers and $45.00 per rifle. This cost will be at the owners expense above and beyond any storage fees.
  • If the storage of firearms are ordered by the Surete de Quebec or any other legal organization permission to pick up the firearms must be submitted to CTVSP by the Surete de Quebec. Failure to produce written permission the firearms in storage will not be released.
  • The owner of the firearms stored must have a valid transport permit to pick up, and transport the firearms from CTVSP.

   Storage for less than one year $60.00 (6 months or less)

   Storage for one pistol or revolver $150.00 per year
   Storage for less than one year $100.00 (6 months or less)
    Storage prices for active members (Rifles and shotguns)
   Storage for one rifle or shotgun $150.00 per year
   Storage for less than one year $80.00 (6 months or less)
   Storage prices for non members (Rifles and shotguns)
   Storage for one rifle or shotgun $200.00 per year

 
  • The owner of the firearms will be responsible to renew the storage period of the stored firearms. CTVSP is not bound in anyway to send reminders for the renewal of storage period. All storage fees must be paid in full at the time of renewal.
  • If the storage fees are not renewed within 15 days of the expired storage date, CTVSP is not bound to continue to store these firearms. The firearms will thus be forwarded to the Surete de Quebec for destruction.
  • Any firearm bought at CTVSP and not registered within 12 months of the storage date will be sold to recover the cost of storage fees.
  • Should any law enforcement organization (RCMP. SQ,MUC) in any legal matter confiscate the stored firearms, CTVSP will not be responsible for their destruction or otherwise.
  • CTVSP will not be responsible for any damage caused to the firearms due to improper maintenance. CTVSP will not clean or maintain the said firearms unless so instructed in writing by the owner and all maintenance charges paid in advance.

 Storage of Restricted firearms

An individual may store a restricted firearm only if
 
(a) it is unloaded;
(b) it is
(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device and stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or
(ii) stored in a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked; and
(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in
(i) a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or
(ii) a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked.

 STORAGE OF NON-RESTRICTED FIREARMS

An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if

(a) it is unloaded;
(b) it is
(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device,
(ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or
(iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and
(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into.
(2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws.
(3) Paragraphs (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting.
