The following request was made by the RO's regarding the CTVSP matches:
. FMJ ammunition for indoors competitions:
Although the ventilation systems in our indoor ranges are sufficiently powerful to satisfy safety standards, during matches regrouping a large number of shooters, time constraints force us to proceed forward of the shooting line too fast in order to score and patch the targets.
In order to minimize the risks to Officials that repeatedly find themselves in that position during a competition, we have decided to start an awareness campaign in order to secure a voluntary switch to FMJ ammunition for indoor ranges.
Shooters should take note that such a switch is to their advantage since the smoke produced by lead ammunition is often a factor that hinders rapid sight acquisition.
This is by no means meant to prevent the use of lead ammunition for individual or group training, since there is no urgency to proceed forward in those situations or you can simply make the targets move towards you.
